Godaddy? I have had nothing but problems with godaddy. They don't give you shell access with the basic packages, they update the htaccess once an hour, the server configure is kinda, well, weird, and the installed software is continually out of date...

Do you get a referral fee from them?

Yes they do have a "novice" setup option, but if you know what you're doing it is above and beyond the most reliable service available. Not to mention they have award winning support... for me that is important because when I am trying to code, I don't need the hassle of customer inquiries on friggin' hosting.

Seriously?

Novice Option?

dude.

THEY DON'T GIVE YOU SHELL ACCESS!!!!!!

Installing PEAR modules is like getting your teeth drilled out by drunk seven year olds, they throw their own .htaccess redirects over your site (try going to /welcome on your site.. just try it). Their techs are clearly underpaid, undertrained, and not given the tools to actually HELP you when you need it. Another one of my favorite gripes with them is their "2 ftp connection" limit on their shared accounts. Have you ever tried developing with a team on godaddy? because let me tell you it REALLY SUCKS to have to take turns getting ftp access.

Every single time I work with a client who hosts on godaddy, I end up spending hours taking code that works perfectly well on any sane LAMP setup and figuring out exactly what absurd thing godaddy has done lately to break it.

Godaddy IS the novice option.

Given the money they're paying you for the referral program, I tend to think that you're probably not the most independent of information sources.
