Default Tommy Logic | Redesign {FINALLY!!!}

Well I finally redesigned my site (and yes Kelly, it's not a "skinny" site)

I still have a lot of work to do, I know, most of it programming.
Take a look through and let me know what you think. Works fine in FF, Safari & IE7. Minor bugs in IE 6.

Anyhow, feel free to tear it up, let me know your honest thoughts.

Tommy Logic | Custom Web Design Solutions

Thanks,
-TL

Hmmm, tough one this but I'm going to be harsh again. As a programmer you rule, everything seems to work to perfection, everything is accesable the use of the drop down tabs are very space saving and highly effective. As a design the site does nothing for me, I thought you were advertising a national park or something, doesn't say fresh, new or unique, I understand your logo is brown and grey, but using the colours stun the site into an almost flat wooden board that you have etched your services onto. Just my opinion.

Also a little bit of humor here but this is how it views on my screen....

Accessible? The bitmapped font, highly compressed, white on brown is not visually accessible to me it actually hurts my eyes, type should be as sharp as you can make it. Standards states that you should be able to enlarge text for people with bad eyesight but surely the standard size should be as readable as possible otherwise every user that uses the site will have to increase the text. Also last line compliant sight? Get it sight!

Top marks for the programming though Tommy bravo.

Lol x

Also, on the theme of usability, none of your links are styled as links. You can't actually tell it is until you hover over it. I'd also change the tabs' hover state cursor to 'pointer' and lose the glossy cliche rss button.

The rest though, I like. Nice subtle scheme.

Funny... Yeah, I admit I did rush some of it.. The <h> tags are fixed now; I should make that specific for IE users. Site is made for larger screens, but the text is fluid and resizable for the visually impaired ( I still need access keys and skip to content, etc in it ).

As for the colors.. I knew I would take a rash from some of you. Seems big bright etc is all the rage.. I'm trying to avoid that washed out white background w/ floating headers look you see everywhere. I went for the earth tones... I prefer things more organic, and was trying to convey that through the scheme. So you're not too far off when you say National Park.

Anyhow.. thanks for the comments & HONEST critique :not worthy:

Thanks for pointing that out, Harry.. yeah, also I still had a couple fonts here and there set at px. FIXED now.
Also, I see what you're saying about the Icon.. maybe I should go with this one

Nice site, although it doesn´t really appeal to me.
Also I have some remarks:

- Site navigation (Home, services, ...) is extremely hard to read
- Projects page has a horizontal scrollbar. This for FF
- Projects page content and special offer box are placed on top of each other instead of next to each other. When clicking skill set button items are placed next to each other. This is not when pressing clients or contact. This for IE6
- Contact dropdown has a vertical scrollbar in FF.

yep.. trying to sort out some of those little quirks now as we speak. In particular, I'm trying to figure out the scrollbar issues in FF. It's odd, thats all. Also, IE 6 I know has a min-width issue. I'm not sure I want to hack that with a js fix, and setting to px kinda defeats the whole purpose. So, I'm trying to decide if I think IE6 users can live with that.

well fixed bottom scroll bar.. clearfloat issue { I missed one }
also.. skillsets should be fixed as well.. {maybe, should.. not testing on IE6, so let me know }
still can't get the scroll bar on "contact tab" to go away in FF.. it is a js contact form

Disappointingly un-graphic. That's all I have to say.
