Default onesummer http://www.onesummer.net

so i finally decided to go ahead and put up my portfolio site. I kept it pretty basic. I wanted something simple and straight forward. I didn't see a need for any uneccessary eye candy graphics/flash that so many people put on their sites. I also left out all that B.S. filler text that is often on web design firm sites.

I did put this little style/color switcher feature on it, however, it's pretty pointless unless you enjoy just seeing different colors. Plus I think it still needs some tweaking.

Feel free to comment or point out anything you find "wrong" with the site. many thanks.

I quite like the fact it's simple, it focuses more on the design work than the site itself.

The only things I did notice was no meta description or keywords, not as important as they used to be but still used in ranking systems.
I really like the blue 'winter' style it's just a nice colour.

The code looks nice and clean the only thing that confused me was...

Code:
<br />
	<br />
	<br />
	</p>
	<div class="ambigramThumbs">
You shouldn't need breaks just add a little more padding or margins to certain divs. But it validates so it's not that important.

thanks toon. those line breaks are probably due to laziness. sometimes I just can't escape its evil clutches.

toon, flick, very much appreciate the critique.

I like it. I'd just give the nav a bit more substance. Also, is that a sponsored hosting by MT?

no, they aren't sponsoring my site. they're just a good host provider so I thought I'd put a link to their site on mine. Honestly, it's actually almost a "status" thing these days to have your host be mediatemple.

my site really is not worth being "sponsored" as it's not exactly interactive nor dynamic. It's just a very simple site I'll be using to display my work.

thanks for the input. I'll probably leave the nav as is though, as I want it to keep it simple.

Hmmm, I've head a few bad reports about (mt). Especially with their servers not being able to handle large traffic volumes (esp the Digg Effect). Mind you, it shouldn't affect a humble portfolio site.

It's their databases that are meant to struggle I think

majority of all host providers have some kind of "issues".

@PR, humble is right. I've never had any issues with mt, and i love their control panels and client interface. they do a pretty good job staying on top of these and keeping up with the latest technolog, so they get my vote.
