Default Textraw | Synthetic pinestraw

Here's one of the websites I designed and maintain.

Textraw | Synthetic Straw

Textraw | Synthetic Straw also points to it.

we get about 1500 hits a month right now. Not too bad I don't think. we're top in google for searches "Textraw" and "Synthetic Straw" also a search for "pine straw" shows our google adwords ad on top in the right column, and we're in the regular results #6. I'm pretty proud of our google stats, as most of our vistors get to our site through search engines.

I do my best to stick to web standards, but honestly I can't tell you if it'll pass all valid xhtml and css checks, but it should be close...

And yes I know the lightbox javascript stuff is overused, but it's quite helpful and appropriate for this site. Also, with the exception of the comparison chart, the rest of the site is table-less.

Oh and I know I'll get yelled at for the typeface of the logo, but I promise I had nothing to do with it and argued and argued for them to change it, but the guy who created the product wouldn't budge. He loves it for some reason.

I put in a good bit of time testing it in Firefox, IE6, and IE7 and even took at look at it in Safari, also checked out most resolutions, and it seemed to test pretty well. Also should print fairly well as I've got a seperate stylesheet for printing.

I really like, I like some of the small touches like turning the lightbox window green and the fact that you've filled the page with the header always makes a difference to me.

The only thing I did notice is the

Textraw synthetic straw...Beauty that Lasts
See the difference in the before and after shots!

Doesn't seem large enough to be the main heading on the home page, I'd make if bigger so you're drawn to it as the header, top stuff though.

(Boll*cks to TommyL and the standards nazi's it's a nice design)

I do agree it probably could be bigger, but the main focus needs to remain those before and after shots on the homepage, as photos "always speak louder than words" also I want the first time visitors to see them first so they can immediately relate to the before shot and think "yeah my pinestraw looks like **** like in that photo too" and then when they see the textraw "after" shot they'll think "damn, that does look good, maybe i should spend more than 20 seconds on this page". I also places the "photo gallery" link in the main navigation first, instead of a dumb "about" section as lots of sites do, as with a product like this, visitors are going to want to see real time shots of its use and see that it looks good and works before they decide they want to spend anymore time learning about the product.
