I love the mind map in the background and love the overall grid, very nice work. The changing background color keeps your attention.

The only criticism i can find is about the scrolling menu on the left. I was a bit confused about it and first thought the scrollbar was a graphic element. When i realized that the bottom link was cropped it made me wonder if maybe that "graphic element" was actually a scrollbar.

So maybe you can make the scrollbar pop out bit more. Also i think the text color in this menu has a low contrast and can be a problem for some people.

Overall i like what you did, the site is engaging and made me look around for a while. *Thumbs up*

Default Thanks

Thanks for the feedback. Agree with you about the scrolling pane, probably could be improved.

I'd like to have some subtle animation around here to show that these things are selectable, and to give a bit more dynamism to the page.

Will try to find the time somewhere!

Coding wise, you have a few CSS and HTML errors and issues with section 508 accessibility.
Otherwise i think the design looks great, love the use of colour.

Default Flash despair

Thanks blueocto.

There are some errors, but there are reasons for them!

Well the Flash is rather lazily embedded using native Adobe methods, and this is repsonible for the HTML and Accessibility errors. At some point I should just include it with Javascript, which will validate.

In the real world howver, despite failing automated accessibility tests, I know of no accessibility problem that arises from using a combination of object and embed tags, particularly as we're providing an alternate method of reaching the same content.

I think the CSS errors are the result of an unfortunate hack, which was necessary to achieve fixed elements on a page while the central column remained scrollable.

Probably these should be included in IE conditional statements, which get ignored by W3's checker.

But, you know, its a question of getting round to these things...

Looks good... it has a unique layout. I like the way the content scrolls and the menu/logo stay still. I agree with globalhans that the scrolling menu on the left isn't really clear.

Thanks flick... I just call it "fixed". You can set the CSS background property to fixed, along with (in theory) the position attribute of any element that you don't want to scroll.

Browser support is a bit patchy, but better all the time...

juz4dafunofit: OK, looks like the votes are stacking up for a fiddle with our scrolling block!
