Default Critique my portfolio

This is my portfolio for my freshman year, disregard the work, it's outdated. Please give me feedback on my web layout only, I went for a clean obscure look. The things I have learned since building this site is spacing out my text more, any other criticism? index

Nice idea but im not a fan of it being sideways - to really look at and appriciate your work i need to tilt my head and keep it there.

I think the little teaser images on the side showcasing you work are too small, it doesnt really showcase anything.

As i said, nice idea, but for a portfolio site? Dont think it will work (IMO of course)

Erm, the coding is... it's terrible I'm afraid. No text, tables, MM preload, resizing the browser window (annoying as hell). It's really close to being validate, but that's cos it's almost impossible to make a hash of embedding images. The idea's probably better done in Flash tbh. And I have to agree with Gav on the tilt thing.

I don't know about the coding side of things so can't really comment, I don't mind the skewed content although I think it might be a little too much. Maybe look at straightening it up 10-15 degrees or so

Thanks for the comments, I do not know code at all, that's what advanced web is for this year. I did the entire site using hot spots and photoshop layouts, I heard you could put a picture in crooked through using div tags in some complicated way. This was my first real website I built my freshman year. Hopefully this year I'll be more comfortable with css and html so I can at least update my portfolio site when need be.

mmmm the idea is nice - I am quite the fan of sideways stuff. I think it's refreshingly different BUT I'd suggest making it a little less maybe on the image so it still appears to puritans.

Of course, there is nothing to stop the images bing straight and the rest of the page angled which might work better and (gasp....cos its something I know nothing about) code better...

Nice idea you have there! I'll commend you for trying to push the design a little!

I think the tilt is also a bit too much. I think El Peligroso's and Zumo's comment about reduce the tilt is spot on. It may still feel uneasy overall, but it's worth investigating.

I also had to scroll down the page a little to get to it, so maybe bring it closer to the top of the browser.

thanks for the criticism everyone. I didn't have the full knowledge that I do know when I first built this site. The idea was to produce this in flash and have the line be a moving element throughout the site. By the end of my sophomore year I should have one that is up to par.

constructive criticism I hope?

As i said, it's a good idea and with a little work and some research, could well hit every button.

I thought the icon samples were too small, but overall I liked the concept... You have to think a little (for a change).

Nice Site.
