Default Pure CSS Drop-down Menu

I got a little bored the other day, so I decided to see if I could make a pure CSS drop-down menu. It turns out I could.

It's by no means ground breaking, but it uses extremely lightweight, semantic and validate (Strict) xHTML, and a bit of CSS. There's also a vertical version, a little like an accordion.

Like I said, nothing amazing, but it's there if you want it.

Harry

Very nice, love the Hor one, other one doesn't do it for me, I prefer a click rather than a rollover

Yeah, I agree, but I made the hor one and wondered if a vertical one was doable. I think if you're going to have an accordion you'd want a proper click/slide one.

Hmm nice work, I prefer hor one too though.
What do you think SEO implications are on this one guys? Cloaking maybe, bit iffy with Google these days.

display:none; is still a valid a syntax as any, it's only when Google realises that masses of links are being hidden (clear and outrageously obvious spam) that it will pose an issue. SEO wise I'd say it's fine — but that's me.

Yeah, I realised that. I was gonna make an IE6 version but then I found out that Stu Nicholls at CSS Play has an all css version which works in IE6 - no point reinventing the wheel.

I like the horizontal one, but I'm not sure why there has to be a gap of white space between the links.

Do you mean the spacing around the words?
