I think the image is so bright and vibrant, that it just visually demands attention. To me, it's the first thing that I'm drawn to when I go there, because of the colors and the moving type. So, maybe consider the color, and just how you might utilize that space better. Sounds like people are being drawn to it, but aren't "rewarded" when they get there. (If that makes sense...)

on the subject of continuity, the tabs in your portfolio could be thought out better. at the moment they are just glossy buttons, the colour scheme of which doesn't fit the rest of your otherwise lovely site, do you see what i mean?
