Default Typesetting in Polish

Hi,

I've been asked to do some typesetting for a postcard, but it needs to be in Polish. They sent me the text / characters, but I have no idea what font to use or what character set. I'm using a Mac and Illustrator for this job. Any advice??

depends what the letters are and what it says. If it has special characters like an l with a line across it, or a z with a dot on it, then just make sure that whatever font you use, that it has those characters.

If it's just regular type, then ask what the postcard says and then design as you would an English one.

Search for some polish fonts (if they require the special symbols) and then work the same way as you would in English. Treat type like it is a series of shapes. They need to be clear and legible but not always in a straight line. Play with the same visual stresses on characters, and relish the new visual stresses and characters also.
