Just a bit of fun with simple hand made type.

Nice stuff. When you say 'hand made', what is your process?

these are cool, well done :)
when i've attempted this sort of stuff in the past i've created a set of versatile shapes and put them together in different positions if that makes sense? and is that the right way to do it? i'd love to get more into it. i would definitely not know where to start trying to make a sans-serif font or anything like that. i'm rambling.

It would be one way certainly.

It's my way.
By hand made I really just mean not fonts. Drawn by me in illustrator. Occasionally I'll sketch beforehand but not for such a geometric style as this.

Thanks for the kind words.

arrr cool. I see hand made as just that. Like if you'd found these shapes and photographed them. So was getting a bit confused but I get it now. Very cool though, are you developing this further?

Possibly. I'd like to turn these and the alphabasic logotype into full fonts. I'm going to need to learn a font creation app too.

I think you have two solutions there. I imagine you can make the complete font in Illy form the characters you already have in both uppercase and lowercase? That would be good enough for display usage, particularly as it looks good with no letterspacing.

There are various font programs I've looked into, Fontographer used to be the top on, but for a while they stopped making it, so god knows now. It would be much like illy to draw these shapes as they are simple geometrics, as opposed to the level of accuracy for say a normal sans. That's why the free fonts on the net are often not good for work, as they can be badly drawn with weird spacing.

I guess it depends if you eventually want to market them as a free/paid typeface, or just keep it for you usage.
