Fishing and Combat Competitions

These are the "sports" that I enjoy.

I go out on Fishing boats in the ocean 3 or 4 times a year. I live in southern California, and the boats go down into Mexican waters to fish primarily for yellowtail. I caught a 17 pounder last year on one trip. That's by no means a really big fish, but it was pretty tough to catch for an old guy like me. I'm all out of breath in this picture because I just caught that fish, so that's why I have the funny look on my face :D



I use to be a member of a fish and game association, and participated often in combat competitions. These are similar to standard target shooting competitions, but they are timed, and you shoot while running, in various positions, from behind objects, and with both right and left hands. I ended up moving pretty far away, so I didn't renew my membership with the organization, but I really enjoyed doing it back then.

Nice Tuna... Is that off the coast of Baja?

I used to live in North County and participated in several events like that. And of course the fishing off Baja around marker 164 south... way down. Good times!!!

Yes, this is right at the Coronado Islands, directly west of Ensenada/Tiajuana. I was on a 3/4 day boat out of Islandia (Mission Bay).

I've never been on a boat that was longer than 1 day. It's hard for me to set aside time to fish, and it's expensive too!
