0 Google Backlinks

I hear so many people saying I know I have 100 backlinks but google says I have 0. I always say that unless they are from relevant and reputable sites google won't count them, i.e. Free web directories that have a PR6 home page but the link back is from a PR0 page.

I have heard that google won't count a linkback unless the pages PR is over a certain number. Anyone else know what that value is and if this is infact true or a rumor.

I'd guess the value was at least PR2 but I'd like to know if anyone knows any more

Hi, just sharing my experience. I'm wondering also why I don't have any backlinks from Google on my site. Yahoo returned 191 backlinks but Google is 0. I don't understand that also.

There is a difference between backlinks you have and backlink Google displays with the Link: command, if you register with Google Webmaster tools you will see a similar number of backlinks to the Yahoo count.

Just keep on link building your site, after some time 3 weeks to a month, try and check your link popularity and bwoila, there seems to have at least 3 to 10 links from Google.

It's quality rather than quantity, how it should be, MSN are following suit I think

lolly, any link is helpful really. there's no such thing as a bad backlink. How google treats your links is as follows. You get a pr3 backlink, yet there are 500 links on that page, you ony end up getting a tinnny bit of that link juice. Say it's a pr3 site and only shows your link, you'll get a huge chunk of that PR.

When you submit to a directory, please don't let Page rank be your primary concern, it's the valuable traffic directories send your way that you should be interested in. Pick the most relevant spot and stick it in as many directories as you can, pr0+ that way you get more direct traffic coming from there. In my opinion, especially after google spanked most directories and dropped their pr, directories should be used to increase targeted traffic and not be associated with PR building. my 2cents..take it or leave it :)
