Default Google Anal...

Hi All,

Can anyone help please. I have a photography site hosted by ClikPic and a domain name that links to this. I heard someone talking about Google Analytics and thought I'd have a look as I have the option to enter a GA Verification ID or a Google Verification code in my options on ClikPic.

The ID I've entered appears to be '-x' short, but have taken straight from GA and I can't see a verification code anywhere. Any ideas and would I need to do anything else once I've done this?

Thanks

You have to actually paste the script code into every page you want analytics on it should look like this....

Code:

Ah. As I'm using a template site where I can only change the settings, where will I put this. Does it need to go into the page code?

Ok - pasted it into a 'description' box on the home section and I can see it when I do view frame source. It seems to be in the right place as it is just before the 'body'. The web url that I've set it up for is Max Hector Photography, but this isn't actually where it is as it is hosted with ClikPic at Max Hector Photography: Welcome but GA would let me enter that address as the web site??

It won't work as you've got it in the head it needs to go directly before the close body tag, it has to be the last thing in your body.

Ok, maybe this is a bit over my head - geddit! I don't know what the 'head' is? Here's what the source says...

Ok mate. I can't change any of that. All I did was enter the code into a text frame on the template that I'm using from ClikPic, figuring that it would be on the page somewhere.

This is probably a bit much to talk me though we I haven't got a clue, so don't worry I'll have to teach myself for a bit and try again!

Using site builders means you never really have the control over all the sites features.
