Default Multiple Domains

A client of mine has bought around 20 domains related to their company that they want to use in helping with their search engine optimisation. Re-directing these domains to their main site and then submitting all the domains to the search engines - will this help the SEO or will it just annoy the search engines?

I'm sure it will annoy, Google doesn't like redirects. Why not turn them into relevant directories and have their site as the most prominant at the top.

I still don't know about a redirect it's just a con and you end up getting blacklisted there would have to be a user click through taking them to the part of the site.
