Default ASP.NET vs PHP

I've got experience in PHP and understand the scripting languages well enough but my boss is heavily suggesting that i learn ASP.NET with C#, OOP coding.

my mind is struggling to make this transition. i can read the code and follow the linkings but i have no idea about the "whys" even though i can kinda see the "hows". OOP concepts evade me! is there some logic or tips that i don't know that would make this transition a little easier? my biggest problem right now is i'm thinking of how PHP does things as and then trying to make ASP.NET work in the same way... which i know is wrong but i can't avoid it.

the general concepts of if-else, arrays, and the other universals of programming are easy enough but the specific variances and methods are beyond enigma status to me. tutorials don't really cover nuance well.

any suggestions or tips would be more than appreciated.

they are already using it.

i checked out Alice but it wasn't good for what i need. i need to read and edit the .aspx.cs files and it dealt more with the drag and drop functionalities. i may have been impatient with it though since i only messed with it for about an hour.

Umm Russlock.... ASP.Net is free. The same is true with classic ASP.

My suggestion would be for you to pick up some good books on the subjects "Object oriented programming" and "ASP.Net".

Learning ASP.Net synax is one thing, but you must also understand the concepts of object orientation to be a successful .Net coder.

It takes time, but I promise you that it's all worth it. And with your knowledge in PHP already, you got some stuff for free (like loops, statements and cases)...

thanks for the advice.
yesterday i went to Purdue University and signed up for C&IT-155 (Introduction to Object Oriented Programming) as a non-degree student.
the structured setting will help me grasp the concepts faster than trying to figure it out on my own.
