This may be opening a can of opinionated worms, but, out of curiosity, what would your programmer hierarchy look like?

I think on scriptage's hierarchy, Perl would be on top of the list.
Subtlety is my middle name... and first and last in case you didn't get the point.

Let's think about it logically. C++ is exactly what its name suggests, the increment of the C language. C++ introduced, amongst other features, the concept of classes to the C language. It is axiomatic that the most efficient way to design is to use a modular (object oriented) approach so as to re-use code wherever possible. Because C and C++ are in essence the same language the only difference between programming in C and programming in C++ is the object oriented design approach, therefore, C++ programmers would feel that they come above C programmers in the hierachy, just as people who write HTML 4 would consider themselves superior(in the design sense of course) to those who wrote the less standardised HTML 3.

Note: Ruby programmers consider themselves superior to everybody, but are not aware of the existence of non-web languages...
Ruby is not a web only language, Ruby on Rails is a web application framework for the Ruby language.

Why would someone who scripts in ECMA (Javascript) think that they are better than people who actually program in any of the languages below them?

Anybody old enough to be using PASCAL or ADA will surely consider themselves superior to people using a new higher level programming language, especially since they will have been programming years before users of Java were born.

PHP should be at the bottom of the list, anybody who knows anything about programming knows that it is an awful language and would consider themselves far superior to anyone using the dross.

This chart was obviously made by some programming fanboy that knows nothing about the subject.

    Any questions?
