Most cameras have grainyness in dark/night images, i think its simply because they cant handle it.
There is only one camera I have read that can actually do amazing night shots, but I am unsure of the make at this time (my head is in bed already lol)

Actually you need to set your shutter speed to a slower speed. This allows your lens to capture as much light as possible for the photos. If you're shooting at night, you'll also need to set your camera up on a tripod. Otherwise any movement will mess up your photo.

There are several reasons that graininess can appear:
1. What format and at what size are you shooting in? If your photo is too small and you're trying to blow it up in size, that causes graininess.
2. You're shooting with too little light or your iso is not set correctly.
3. Your camera isn't able to shoot the quality you are looking for in the type of environment you are in.

There are also many other factors.

All of the cameras default to 72DPI. But your image is still the size you take. So here's how to get to 300DPI and the correct physical size:

Open Photoshop
Go to Image>Image Size

When the dialogue box comes up:
Make sure the only thing checked at the bottom is 'Constrain Proportions'
Make sure the Resolution box says 'pixels/inch' and Change the Resolution number from 72 to 300. Notice how the size will change as well and this is normal.

Select OK to exit the dialogue box and save your file.
