Default Shall i sell?

I love my photography but i really dont get a chance to take much of it! Im going to be going to camp america soon and doing some travelling afterwards so this will be a perfect time to get some photos!

however, ive been going a bit mad on the clothes shopping front (i went for an interview last thursday in london and forgot my suit so went and got the new paul smith suit for example - which is very nice but for some1 who is saving for his summer.. is a bit OTT)

so im a little low on pennies and could do with selling my canon 300d and all the bits and picking up a small digital camera for £100-£200 range - giiving me a good camera and some money for summer

Ive seen a few cameras that will allow you to do most of the things a digital slr will do so im going to look into them.

but what do you think.. should i sell my digital slr and go for something smaller for my travelling? or keep the digital slr as i wont get a great deal for it and wont be too bad to take travelling with me?

Maybe a kidney's safer as you'd probably die without your liver!

i hear fujifilm have a range of £100 - £200 SLR's
Maybe you could have the best of both worlds, replace your slr with a cheaper slr

I think if you sell your slr then you'll really miss it, I had a great one years ago and had to sell it - it was either sell it or eat! Why don't you see what you can get in the states, everything's cheaper there and then you can keep your slr?

Hi Joe

I'd be inclined to keep the 300D on several grounds:

1: As you quite correctly said, you probably won't get a huge amount for it second-hand nowadays sadly :(

2: It's pretty compact as far as SLRs go, and light with it, so won't bog you down too much as regards lugging kit to the US

3: You have the flexibility of getting more lenses/accessories for it as and when cash presents itself - needless to say, you can't do this with a compact digicam.

4: No shutter lag - which you do tend to get even with newer compact digicams.

P.S: Have you got a spare lung going? There's cash waiting if you do ;)

i don't think you should sell it - your best thinking of other things to sell or a job. i'll pay you 20p is you dance like a monkey
