    Mail for Mac Backup

What are people using at the moment to back up their mail in Mail for Mac?

i am using mobile me - so that does it for me. Is there not an option on your email to save emails to server? So if you do lose everything on your mac you can just download the emails again?

I agree with Joe. MobileMe is pretty hot and not just for the e-mail preserving aspect. Just don't buy through apple. You can get it for much cheaper (after the 90 day free trial) from Amazon.com or any other legit business you find after a Froogle search. If you only want to use it for mail back-up, try EBay. A lot of people are selling their 5gb sub-accounts for about $20.

If youre looking for something free, my preference has always been to just copy the mailbox from iMail onto my external. It works.

Oh, if you're using GMail along with iMail or the sort, you can always choose to have mail saved on the server while also being sent to you via pop3. I move a lot and always seem to lose backup CDs/DVDs (and sometimes even externals) so the fact that my G-mail has stored everything since its conception of my account 4 years ago is pretty awesome.
