Are you loading this on a PC or a Mac Hardan?

In the PC environment, I have only seen this happen to people using a ripped off copy.. not a legit store bought copy. If that is the case, I would start there. Otherwise you will need ot increase your paging file size and probably cut back on the number of programs that are running in your systray (loaded when windows loads). And thats a whole another lesson.
512MB you'll be lucky to get one of them to load. Things like number of fonts installed effect it a lot too... Illustrator loads all the fonts at start up. Umm.. there's a lot that goes into it. But FYI, I'll run 2GB of RAM and see it on machines when testing. It is VERY possible that the RAM itself is having issues, improperly timed or on its way out. You can try running a program call "MemTestPro" it s a free app and will give you the status of your memory.

I know that is a lot, but that is where I would start. #1, make sure you have a legit copy, #2, is your ram functioning properly, #3 do you have enough, etc...
