I've got Firefox, Championship Manager, Bit Defender, Optical Mouse, Belkin Wireless Network, Laptop Keyboard.

I put windows on it last night and downloaded the latest bitdefender software.

These are the only things I've put on so far. Can you see if there's anything I should have that maybe I haven't?

Also, can you get to the Task Manager( Ctrl-Alt-Del ), while you are experiencing these issues. On the Performance Tab you would be looking for CPU Usage info.

On the Processes Tab you would be looking for a program that is taking up a lot of resources and or CPU usage.

You can also check the "Event Viewer" and checking for issues with Applications and or System event logs.

Overall, my guess is that system hangs usually have to do with either Spyware, or bad software, or a device confilt. Device conflicts can be anything from bad drivers to memory issues.

The fact that the computer runs for over an hour before it just stops responding leads me to believe there is a particular program running that is causing the issue.

Does this tell you much

The thing I've noticed is CPU usage says 100% it's been running for about 2 and a half hours fine, but I'm not that convinced the problems gone.

Could spyware be on the computer knowing that I only installed windows last night and the new bitdefender isn't picking anything up?

Yeah Toon.. this one is difficult... troubleshooting a System Hang, remotely is hard to pinpoint because I cant see it happen.
What I am looking for is: What changed between when it did work and now it doesn't.
And Specifically: Did you load any new software, is there a new piece of hardware, were you playing a game, surfing the internet, was the system idle, was the screensaver on, could you have inadvertantly downloaded something malicious.. all that type of stuff.

Normally I would say more software is bad when you are having issues, but in your case I think i would recommend putting in a good free spyware tool... my favorite is SpyBot S&D

Get that, update it, do a full system scan... its pretty quick.. and very intuitive. Let me know if it finds anything. And see if any of these questions I posed above strike a bell.

That cm0304.exe at 83% CPU usage is highly suspect.. almost nothign runs at that much CPU usage.

That's my champ manager would deleting and reinstalling maybe solve that issue.

It's actually the old version I'm still playing, I've got the brand new one that needs alot higher spec to run I've just not got into it yet, I've had this version running on some really poor set up's and never had any issues?

Yeah I would say that is the suspect...
Searching their forums,I find a LOT of people having anomolies with it.
CM 03/04 Issues

They all seem to have to do with pulling too many system resources and ultimately leading to system crashes. All of their help says get more RAM, Update Video drivers etc... I would say that when you are done playing it, I would go into The Process Tree (Ctrl-Alt-Del) and manually end the process. It appears to get hung there.

I think you're spot on and I'm not quite sure if there's not some more updates that are just taking there time coming through. I could do with just restarting and seeing what other updates there are.

This is in all seriousness and not one of my jokes but I'm maybe treating a middle of the road PC like I would my G5 which is never a good a idea, patience is maybe the key!

That's impressive, a software suite like that deserves a nice mac to run on
