I know, it's a fine balance. I'm a member (and a mod actually but probably not for much longer) on another forum and they take it all a bit seriously, deleting everything that looks remotely like advertising, deleting posts if people reply en masse to intros to bump up post counts. They also have a massive mod team for what reason I cannot fathom. Thinking about it someone from there is probably reading this now... :)

It's tough to decide where that line falls, and I'm glad it's not down to me. I quite like the atmosphere here though, I particularly like how people don't mind too much (for "don't mind too much" read "don't flame you") if you go a little off topic.

Pete. :)

yeah, i know what you mean, other places are far too serious and use those reputation system things to negative effect on the slightest little thing, can't have a laugh with those people.

This happens on other forums and all people do is post stupid remarks in a random of topics until they reach the post count needed. If someone wants to spam they will, but they also risk me giving them very bad press on their site and many people have come back with apologies because my negative forum comments on their reputable companies end up 1st in Google and looks very bad on the business.

Yeah it does, but until we train monkeys or other small primate to do it, we have to.
