Default Starting a blog

Hey :] Not sure where this should go, so if it needs to be moved, sorry!

Right, Alot of people have blogs, and I have had some in the past, but lost the motivation to continue writing in it really :/

One thing that I would like to ask is... what benefits are there to starting a blog up? And which blogging software is most favoured?

Also, when you write in your blog, do you write about your personal life? or about your business? (or both?)

Thanks, and sorry about all the questions! :]

Well... thats the beautiful thing about a blog. It can be a journal, and actual real life accounting of your day to day life, your job, your boss, your better or lesser half. It can be about ANYTHING you want.
A lot of people are trying to use blogs to generate business. Some of the best are general social commentary or factual or satirical.

My personal favorite bloggin software is WordPress®... Aside from all the widely available templates and widgets, the techniques they use within their pages are very beneficial in more advanced web design tactics (not as advanced as it could be, but it is a simple transition).
I dunno, thats my thoughts. I like wordpress and the content is whatever you fancy.

Id say Wordpress is the most favored, especially for just starting blogs.

The benefits to starting a blog, In a freak accident it could become popular and spread like wildfire.

Like Tommy said, blogs can be anything from reviews of products, To what u ate today.

I personally never read blogs (traditional blogs i mean, like diarys) and cant imagine who would, but people keep makin em so apparently somebodys readin em lol

i'm not sure, i suppose on a personal level it gives people greater insight into you as a person - say people on this forum for instance.

Just another shady way to advertise, unless you have the most interesting thoughts in the world, (which is what most of the best blogs are) or you get information about something before most people it's really just used for advertising.

If you have a static site that never really gets updated much, a blog is a way to have content loosely based around your site that can be updated quickly and easily and every now and again a small ad or two.

If you get a good few readers and a good PR then links and ads for your site will pay off.

I have nothing of interest to say. (Read my blog post about how Amy Winehouse looks like Janice from Friends, Rivetting stuff that!!)

But also look at how many times the keywords 'graphic design forum' are mentioned in the content.

It also means I've 2 pages for my keywords in the first 5 pages of MSN instead of just the one.

Graphic Design Forum - Blogpost MSN

Simple way to advertise any one who tells you they have one to write their interesting thoughts either have too much time on their hands or are probably just trying to hide the fact that they're advertising something.
