I'm undecided, I don't want to fall into the catagory like most who hate all governments but a bit like Toon said, as far as you can trust any human being to run a nation what makes anybody think that anyone else can do a better job, they're obviously voted in because at the time they are the best person for the job and no human being would purposely try to screw over the general public, believe it or not but most actually will care about the future of the country poor or rich.

In my studies of US Political Science, this statement is 100% false, or at best the caring feeling lasts no longer than a politicians first day of service. Here in the US, big money controls politicians like a crack whore is controlled by her pimp. Special interest groups run this country, not the votes of the people. The people may elect a seemingly innocent individual into public office, but shortly after, this elected fool's opinions and actions are bought with campaign contributions and perks. When it comes time for a politician to make a choice about something important, their good ol' friend will come around and tell them, "Remember me, I'm part of such and such organization, and we gave you a lot of campaign money ... and we had a great time living it up at the country club didn't we? ... it sure would be good if you did ______ regarding ______". Special interest groups donate into the billions of dollars to politicians annually, so the politician naturally feels obligated to "do the right thing" for their "friends".

This may not be the way it is in your country, but this is the way it is in the "land of the free" (US). There is actually a lot more corruption of our government going on at other levels due to special interest groups. The complacency of the average citizen, and their lack of understanding, along with the greed of the super wealthy, is what keeps the cycle going.

You are more than welcome to have your own opinions, but the facts are the facts.

well, most of us do not trust our governments for varying and similar reasons. that's not actually surprising.

and upon reading your posts, i simply nod my head in agreement. you guys just pointed the facts and I must agree with you. this just made me think, if you guys don't trust your government by specifying how low your wage, those darn debts, etc. etc... what more are we in our own government??

gee, living in a so-called Third World Country like Philippines will tell you that you are more lucky to live on your country than us. Our government seem to go nowhere! We have unstable political system and economy. Our demographic social status is like an inverted pyramid where the top comprises the elites or well have, only few has the capacity to build their own businesses and be called 'rich'. The larger part are the poor. Those who can't even live in the standards of supplying themselves their basic necessity.

The only thing that disturbs me everytime I encounter this kind of debate is that, while there are people, a lot of people, who live like rats, there are people, government officials, these morons who are living like king and queens enjoying the wealth of nation from the taxes of the poor people! Darn!
