Wish I had seen this in time Harry... It is most likely your RAM. It's possible you have something trying to load on startup that is causing it, but unlikely. You could try booting into safe mode by continuously pressing the F8 key when you boot up.

Let me know where you are on this.

Have you tried taking out your new ram and putting back in the old stuff (this keyboard i'm on has no question mark. lol). You can at least find out whether that's the problem.

I upgrade my pc in parts too so you could say my pc is over 10 years old...but not really.

I can offer you nothing but my sympathy at how crap machines are. You wait, america will lose a future robotic war because they all blue screened.

Or win the war, because their robotic nemeses all bluescreened.

Right, panic over - using a bit of my (now trademark) blaggery and charm I've managed to swing another 6 days on the already 'set-in-stone' deadlines at 6th Form. Just got to wait til my shiny new Dell turns up on Tuesday. I might just kick back and relax...

But until then, how easy is it to transfer a HD if it's already choc-full off stuff? When I initially installed the secondary HD (running as a slave to my boot drive) I had to install an app and format it etc etc. Will I need to re-format it to work in my new machine?

No, don't re-format it or you'll lose everything.
Just plug it in as a slave and you should be able to access the information without any problems (ideally).

Yeah, I knew formatting it would wipe it, but I didn't know whether I had to or not for it to work. I'll just plug it in and cross my fingers lol.

Thanks
