Actually, NiN themselves uploaded it to several torrent sites and it's 100% legal.

Despite what music and movie producing companies would like you to believe, there is nothing inherently illegal about torrents.

Yes, and other torrent sites. bittorrent.am, what.cd, waffles.fm, probably some others i don't know about. Those last 2 are well-respected invite-only torrent sites. If the admins for those sites say the uploader really is NiN, i believe them.

What's this about halos?
