  1. Of course, of course - thanks....

It's a nightclub event with bands, DJs, vendors, and occasionally something extra (fire and snake dancing last time I went). Most dress up (Goth, steampunk). An author I do work for is a regular vendor, and he likes to bring along models and artists for the extra interest and occasional autograph. Very colorful and friendly scene.
  3. Yeah, that's what I'd be looking for (but I'm nervous about what I'm going to hear, too). Thanks for agreeing to take a peek.
I know I'm not ready for a rebrand or the costs associated with a new look, but I'd really like to know what someone inside the industry thinks of my "look."

I'll shoot some stuff over tonight/tomorrow. Take your time and send your thoughts whenever you find the time... Thanks again, Stilige!

Sounds wonderfully relaxing, I hope you both have a great time! Ayia Napa's beaches look glorious. Never been much for the party scene, though it depends on my mood. A while back I went on a work-related trip to a club event for vampire enthusiasts. Thought it was a fun scene, but was feeling unsociable so I spent most the time reading unless called upon.

    Thanks, I will!

Sorry to hear you're tired, but glad you're getting a vacation next month! Do you have anything specific lined up for Cyprus, or just pure enjoyment of the sun? Nothing terribly exciting here, just a busy period of run-of-the-mill work and occasional classes. Wrapped up most of the larger projects, so I'm hoping to get back to personal painting/drawing.

Hey there, nice to "see" you! Been busy with work & distractible with spring. I've the focus of a methed out squirrel right now. How have you been?
  7. Thanks for the encouragement - I'm really trying to keep everyone motivated and engaged!

Hey - I'm curious... would you be willing to critique my personal brand materials? This is a leap for me, and I'm not posting this stuff publicly because the work is very personal and I want to demonstrate self-confidence in public forums. But I do want legitimate feedback and from someone who has a good sense of design and style. Your business card design / logo are right up my alley. No timetable on this - just asking a favor from an online pal...

Hopefully by the time you have a solid idea of what you'd like next, the resistance will have worn away. The back of the neck is one of my favorite places for tattoos, also. Wish I were a hydra so I could have more.

It's a great choice for a first tattoo! Are you thinking about getting more? If so, do you have designs in mind?

    In roughly chronological order:

    flaming blue heart (triceps)
flaming, winged panther head (side of head)
    jaguar head (lower back)
impaled blue ace of spades (biceps)
black chess piece knight (back of neck)
    labrys (forearm)
    dragon kanji (forearm)
heart impaled by dagger held by skeletal hand (forearm)
    beetle (hand)
    "Mother Chaos" (hand)
Ecstasy of St. Teresa statue by Bernini (chest & throat)

Of those, the only designs I'd get today (and even those modified) are the knight, text, and statue. Still, each of them has signifcance and reflects a specific period of my life, so I'm content. Most of them have a decidedly biker feel since my parents were bikers, and as a kid, I spent a lot of time in biker bars, which strongly affected my early taste in tattoos.

Better yet! I've always thought character classes made better tattoos than specific ones: that way if future versions of a specific game suck, there won't be any regrets.

I was 18 for my first, and most of them came within the first few years of that. I'm 39 now and have no qualms with my earlier choices. I think tastes inevitably shift over the years, but so long as one accepts the various stages of her life, there's no reason for remorse. It's just a personal, hieroglyphic biography. I'm occasionally asked if I'll regret them when I'm 80. If my tattoos rank among my top regrets, I'll have lived a very good life.

That makes all the difference! Many of my older tattoos no longer suit me, but I don't mind - I consider them a visual history of sorts. I think I remember you mentioning that you like video games: is it a specific character? Glad to hear you're doing good, everything's going well on this end!

Nice idea for the Valentines Card Comp!
Looking forward to seeing fresh ideas—I think I'll submit one too.

BTW You sure have changed your avatar a lot lately! You've come up with some good ones.
