Lake Wake Logo Re-Brand

Top is the recent logo for teh company (yuck). Bottom is my revision of the company. I went to school with the owner, so I'm hoping I might get a job within his company. I wanted to go for an ocean surf appeal. I KNOW some of you are going to say "That looks a lot like the nike logo." Well no it's quite different. It may have similarities, but there is no copyright infringement involved.

If you look closely, the design resembles a "w", which represents the "Wake or Wave". Not to mention I have the wave/wake effect ;) The TYPE itself is undecided.. Personally I'm not feeling it, but I'm going through a typographic breakdown today LOL.

the bottom works because it's simple

bottom. mark hints at both the "L" and more obvious the "W". also gives off more of a wakeboarding on the lake feel.

The one thing I wanted to do when I first saw it was this with the E and W just to make the text look more unique

You forgot to kern the W"A" :). Like I said, I haven't completed the type yet. I really don't know what I'm going for... I actually wanted a hand written "splashy" look. If you get my meaning.. Like...

Liquid Force Wakeboards | 2007 - liquid force's type is gorgeous. I just don't want it chaotic looking like LF. I'll figure something out I'm sure.

I like the blue and black one alot
