I quite like it. The original doesn't really leave you with that many places to go.
I do think it will look better on packaging than held up as a single piece of design though.

The new one looks best suited for the company, although that red you chose is nasty man.. Stick with the solid red ;)

i agree with jeff and carrotnapper, definitely dated look and not the good type of look
