The first one looks really familiar. As soon as I saw it I imagined that I'd seen it on a glass door somwhere, I just can't pin it down. If I remember it I'll let you know.

toon, sorry for all that mess on logosauce. i seriously did not mean to have it sound like i was attacking you personally. anyway, i was really just wondering why you went with a shape that has been used in many other logos previously, without really putting any of your own flavor/spin on it. Just seems unlike you, is all.

What are your thoughts on this? as far as using the same shape that has been used in other logos I mean.

What I've found is there's 2 types of people at logosauce those with too much time on their hands who actually battle it out for $100 prize money and take it serious and those who like to take a bit of time out from the real world and spend a few minutes doing something they enjoy.

I charge more than $100 per hour for logo design so if I have half an hour and want to take a break from what I'm doing I'll knock one or two designs out if they get picked it's a bonus but I'm not going to loose any sleep over $100.

There's too many people there, many I believe are just children who's portfolio's only contain logosauce comp entries which tells me they're either..

a) Non designers looking for a bit of cash
b) Really bad designers who can't market themselves and do business on logosauce only
c) Designers who would maybe make more money spending less time working for logosauce prices and puting time and effort into getting real clients that require full brands not just small web logos.

I think it's been proven with the whole 'you stole my...' and 'I made that idea first'. Logosauce is available to anyone who wants to call themself a designer which is pretty much anyone with a computer.

One of the clients of logosauce emailed me for advice as it turns out they picked a design and asked for the artwork and received a 450px X 485px photoshop jpg and wondered why they couldn't take it to the sign makers.

I ended up doing their logo for £260 and for obvious reasons kept it off logosauce and here so's not to show anyone up. But if this is what people are like there it's hardly worth trying to compete.

If I've got nothing good to say I refuse to comment, it's not that I don't want to help, if people want advice do it on the forum and everyone will tell you I will bend over backwards to help. Only because this is a place with no scores, no cash prize and everyone is equal.

I will give designers respect if they up load something I like, it doesn't have to blow me away because it's logosauce after all and if someone is spending 3 or 4 hours on a logo for $100 they must be doing something wrong.

Take logosauce for what it is and try not to take it too seriously I'll give you a great example....

But people do, they can't help it. Everybody knows if you design 4 concepts 1 really good one, 2 not so bad ones and a really c*ap one the client usually always chooses the c*ap one. Why do people feel they can't show off all 4 concepts on logosauce without fear of ridicule? I for one have left plenty of quite embarassing ones on there because I don't feel I'm in competition with anyone there at least not directly.

Like a friend of mine says

'If a designer takes themself too seriously they might as well be a coder'

That's my out look on the wonder that is logosauce it's a good little site ruined by the fact that money has to be involved, the sorry thing is $100 to some of the people on there is a lot of money and I'd much rather see them get it because they need it than someone like me who doesn't need it. It's a shame things work out like that but it's the world we live in I'm afraid.

So in answer to your question the reason I used a shape that's been used before is just time really, nothing to do with design just plain old time to be honest. I knocked out what I thought was 4 quite different style logos to see if any of them were what the guy was looking for without fear or factor just because I had a bit of free time.
