Thanks for all the replies, from other posts I have read it's seems to be a good cross between 'practice' and 'you've either got it or you haven't'.

Maybe you can buy a logo design book. I have few but the best is The Power of Logos by Dr. Bill Haig. Visit the website and you can find good articles - also a link to the book
