Default DJ logo - suggestions welcome!

Hey people!
I'm fairly new here, and fairly new to logo designs too :)
I gotta think up a logo for a DJ called Tara Murphy, and I came up with this as my first half-decent idea:

The dots obviously spell out TM if you use your imagination...
Tell me what ye think :)

I'd add a little tracking and also reduce the ident a little down in size. It's a good logo

Nice play with the "T" and "M" as the dots/turntables. Try reducing the "Tara Murphy" down a bit and see what that looks like. Good job!

Number 5 out of those.

Your ident is for all intents and purposes, any symbol you add to the logotype (that's the wordy bit). Apple's apple, Ferari's horse ..... basically the ident is part of the identity and could be used without the wording in some cases.

Tracking is the universal space between your lettering, also known as letter spacing.

Kerning is different, it refers to the spacing between two letters and is the skill of making uniform spacing between letters, be that negatively (A to v) to reduce space or positively to add space (LL is sometimes a key one).

Yep 5 for me but you don't have to use a 'funky' font you can make it look very classy with a simple fine font a bit like this...

It not only make it look classier but the readability of the name is increased massively

Yup I see where you're coming from. I was trying to keep the font in theme with the ident. That font looks more like a solicitors or psychiatrists type of font I think. It is nice and clean, but I don't know if it suits a dj...
I've got 6000 fonts here so I'm sure to find a few I like :)
Thanks for the help!!

What kind of DJ, if you make the font look like every other DJ you're not offering an identity. Are you saying although it's a classy font Tara is not a classy DJ?

You haven't said what kind of identity you are giving Tara. You see most DJ identities all follow the same process meaning they all have the same feeling.

What personality are you trying to give, because going to funky with text can end up looking childish
