Default Introducing...

Skwatoe Sigs!!!!!

Hello all. This is the first "graphic design" forum I've joined. From what I've seen in the short time that I've been here, I'm impressed!

I'm a self-taught Photoshopper, with the occasional online tutorials of coarse, lol. I'm a traditionally trained artist (pencil, pen, and colored pencils mainly), but in the past 3 years, I've been infatuated with Photoshop.

Anyway, happy to be here, and if anyone would like to see some of my work and backstory, just check out my Myspace page.

Welcome. Do you find yourself using your art skills on photoshop as well? some great illustration and drawing skills mixed with photoshop could be powerful...

Definitely! I used to think using a computer to "draw" and create things was essentially cheating, and that no artistic capabilities were needed; the program did all the work.

Boy was I mistaken, lol! There are definitely shortcuts using PS, Illustrator, etc., but if you're not an artist, or at least an artist at heart, you'll be limited to using photo filters to make your pics look "artsy" at best.

One of the earliest pics I did using PS was coloring one of my scanned pencil drawings:

Yeah, I need to dust off Illustrator, lol. I never got around to re-installing it after my previous hard drive crashed. I haven't spent the time needed to really get the hang of it and feel 101% comfortable with it like I am with PS; I probably spend at the very least, 4-5 hours/day using PS.

I think I'll dabble a bit tonight with Illustrator...

I started on photoshop but find it a little chunky for some things these days. Mind you, with some of the stuff I am doing, I could pull up illy, indesign or photoshop (though normally it's two out of three) and make a stab at it.

Haha, that's what I was going for. Now that I think about it, I probably should have added some steam and water, lol. Maybe she's done and about to get out...yeah, that must be it, lol.
