Everyone always hates flash, why? It's incredibly useful.

Nothing wrong with Flash it's the way people use it. Too many sites built the wrong way with Flash and the application gets the bad name!!

I never used to like it because of SEO but those issues are being solved more by the day.

if used properly to be useful yes it is - otherwise it's just being used to say "LOOK WHAT I DONE!"

Lol, and this is different to how HTML is used? I'm sure you've seen your share of ****, badly made html sites, you'd see the exact same stuff as the bad flash sites if html were capable of it. (or at least if it were as easy to do as it is with flash.)

this is true - we have these epidemics of lots of unnecessary bells and whistles in place of good functionality and layout

hi everyone,

thanks for the replies.
i do take your points about 'copying' but I think since I am not launching an online clothing store / or copying 'artwork' or logos as such, I think its more of just an inspiration for me. Anyway, lets just agree to differ on that one!

Two more questions:

a) if i were to get a freelancer to copy / "get inspired" by this, how much would I be looking at?

I think this could just be too, too complicated for me to do.

b) I am definitely aware of the pitfalls of flash versus HTML.

Is there anyway I could get that moving effect (or similar) using HTML and jepgs / gifs?

again - cost - and who to turn to? I dont have money for some fancy agency, but I guess a new web design graduate acting as a freelance should be a reasonable cost?

all tips / pointers very appreciated.

thanks again for all the advice

Yes there is *edit* sorry wrong link, 1 sec. Ok, can't find the link i was after. But i'm pretty sure you can use spry to do it. Flash is the easiest solution though imo

As for cost, i haven't got a clue, i'm still a noob in those regards and am clueless about pricing, but anyone here could probably do it.
