Hi everyone!
I'm 22, Graduated from uni last July with BA hons in graphic design. Since then tried everything 2 get in 2 the industry. 1st i worked voluntary for a small graphic design company, they absolutely took the p!*@s, said they would eventually take me on but turned out 2 b a load of ****.. just used me.
Then i got a job with a company as a in house designer, worked their for 3 months then they got a new printer who offered free artwork so that completely screwed me!! Ended up doing office work!!(later i found out they were charging extra National insurance & keeping it for them selves, Cheeky f*!@*?s!!) Obviously had 2 get out of their especially as i wasn't designing anymore!! (the printer did offer me a job when they found out i finished but they are based miles from me and i don't drive..Yet!)
Did a little free lance work designing menus for take-aways mostly & kept applying 4 jobs.
Most got back to me saying not enough experience then finally 1 invited me for a interview! The interview went great, was told 40 people applied & i got down 2 final 10 (4 of which they said i went 2 uni with, same year bla bla bla). Then Later that week got phone call that they had picked 3 of us out & couldn't decide who to employ so could we do a task (designing 3 logo's letter head & compliment slip) Did them then emailed them over. Few days later got another phone call, they still couldn't decide, all 3 of us were great, could we go in the studio for a how or two, see how we get on. Went in next day (wednesday just gone), Was good, did a few task....etc, had look round, had a chat, then went home.
Today receives Letter, your work was brilliant, really liked you, thanks for participating but we've decided to go with some one with more experience!! will keep you on file, all the best for the future.
There!!
All of my chest now!!
Is it really so hard to get in to the graphic design industry. I have been so determined but now i feel like ripping my hair out and giving up!!
Thank god its Friday
Sorry for the essay!!
