Default Good Design Books?

Always nice to have some shiny design books for inspiration...

A few from me...
1000 Type Treatments - Some really good type usage in here over all sorts of media. Stuff from non format to NB:Studio etc. Its a nice little sourcebook that shows that clear type can work just as well and more experimental things.

Area - 100 graphic designs picked by 10 curators - its a nice showcase of some mixed work. Some of it is amazing, and others not to eye spanking. But good studio fodder all the same.

Any others to add?
Would live to get '**** off Typography' but its hard to find and its £40 - would like to see it or hear what its like before paying that and its tracing fee.

The art of looking sideways by the late Alan Fletcher

The elements of graphic design by Alex W White, is a very good read (don't be fooled by the GCSE level design used on the cover - and throughout the book to be honest!). Particularly useful is the section on grids!

Another good one and very popular at the moment is How to be a graphic designer, without losing your soul by Adrian Shaughnessy

yeah I have the latter - good for some grounded knowhow, though some seems common sense. Might check out the second one, always good to see a more in-depth one on grids.

Well its quite a small section, but is very helpful. Another good one is Making and Breaking the Grid by Timothy Samara (though its more of a picture book than a how to)... Even better is A type primer by John Kane which is more of an exercise book.

I have spent a fortune on all these books, but they just live on my desk at work so haven't been able to properly digest them yet!

For logos I'd recommend:

Los Logos
Dos Logos
Tres Logos
