how to make a brush taper out

Hi Folks,
I am working in Photoshop CS2.

I need to make take one of my brushes and make it taper thin out, so it's fatter in the stem and thin at the tip, like a leaf. I'm working with a brush that looks a bit like charcoal. I tried using the brush options, tried fade, which does nothing.
Can you help?

yes, I forgot to mention I'm using a stylus with a wacom tablet
