hey candra we normally charge for design+ per flyer but choose wisely when giving price cause u can turn some clients away from your services if the price is through the roof, we normally charge $2.50 per flyer with design ontop which would be bout $5 for i flyer in total but i guess its upto each designer how they charge and what they charge hope its a works for you!

I normally charge $60 an hour. I don't do per-job on fliers, unless I have a prior written agreement. The amount of revisions that would happen without some sort of agreement would be overwhelming if you would do it by job. I recommend you be upfront with your experience and tell them why you are doing this.
$5 for a design would be less than something you would buy off of a template website. |

Hi Candra
As it is your first job and a new client, I don't think you can charge per hour. You can charge per hour when you have years of experience which enable you to accurately estimate your speed - and then you will still make mistakes sometimes :) You also need to know the client well to do so. As Yodacola mentioned, if the client is one of the awkward types, you will end up doing endless overwhelming revisions. My humble advice would be to charge per flyer and clarify to the client before hand that you will do UP TO A MAXIMUM of 3 samples. Submit a sample at a time, if it is not suitable, submit the second and then the third. By saying "UP TO 3", it doesn't mean you HAVE TO submit 3! Somebody might argue that this is a harsh approach...but to be honest if after 3 samples your client is not satisfied, then you are the wrong person for the job. PS. however you decide to charge, make sure you don't sell your artwork for cheap...not $5, not $10, not $20. Believe in your work and sell it for what it is worth! ~PEACE~

Have you tried Elance.com for some price comparisons? There are archived jobs in the profile of each freelancing artist, and you can get a pretty good idea about what to charge for a brochure, or for a business card.
If you browse through the jobs posted in the past, (say: "logo design" you will see jobs posted and adjudecated for the price range of $0-$49, or $100-$199. You be the judge, as the prices may vary quite a lot. I noticed that the designers from Asia or India are really low price, as opposed to the North American market. Hope this helps, |
