Default portfolio building

is it seen as bad form to display a piece of work that you've done for someone when they haven't asked for it / don't know about it. for example, if i entered a logosauce comp and spent loads of time on something and then at the end of the comp wanted to use it to fill out my portfolio even though it wasn't chosen, would that be ok? am i talking jibberish? :D

I don't see why it would be a problem, it is something that you've designed so why not?

Artists (and some photographers) fill entire exhibition spaces with work that they themselves have commissioned.

As long as you state it was a contest entry you don't need to say whether it won or not

I was always under the impression that you can display anything you've made in your portfolio unless you're under some kind of non-disclosure agreement
