Default benefits of a bigger more decent comp screen

Hi all!.
The company i work for has an operations manager who is....
how can i put this....

CHEAP!

He makes me design on a 17" comp screen which gives me migraines and bad eyes and just completely screws with my head, i hate it. So i bought in one of my comp screens 19" widescreen, but as i have to keep taking it home every night, it is getting trashed with driving it back and to work in the back of my car.

He has finally listened to me and the other designers and agreed to at least hear us out. We think that if we give a good enough pitch as to the benefits of having a bigger screen, he will have no choice but to buy us what we need.

So can you guys give me some advantages of a bigger computer screen (we are aiming for a 20" / 22") i want bigger but were lucky to get the 17" bags of shit we have at the moment.

Thanks peeps!!

Gav

well when working with print and larger files more screen space is a plus, also having more screen allows for quicker and more efficient use of multiple applications and tools and windows within those apps.

I don't think managers or company owners really know any better... I had my manager replace my dual 21" Viewsonics 1900x1900 resolution or better with two small tiny lcd screens 1024pixels wide MAXIMUM... I was furious and put up a really big stink about it... he though he was doing me a favor by getting me new monitors...

Managers are managers for a reason... because they can't use computers...

I agree with Toon about the size. It's really the quality and color that count. Why buy a 30" monitor if it's a piece of junk (I'm not saying yours is junk), but don't go out and purchase a big monitor because it's big.

My husbands G5 has this monitor Cintiq 21UX Product Information. One of our clients gave it to us as a gift. I use the standard 19" Mac Monitor for my G5.

At one time I had 2 monitors...one for my pallettes and the other for my layout work. The advantage of having a larger cheap monitor (like the 30") is that it's great for publication layout so you can see two pages at a time. But if you do this, get a great monitor for color correction of photos.
