Default Graphic Design Training Resources

Hiya,

This is my first post on the forum, hello to all.

Just to give a brief outline of myself I'm a junior graphic designer based in the South East of the UK trying to find my way in the industry and learn new skills along the way (I'm sure I'm not the only one in this boat).

The reason for my post is that I have searched high and low for training resources available to people who are already working full time and can't give up time monday to friday.

I am looking for design training resources that I can either do online or somewhere that offers courses in the evenings and weekends. I am largely self taught in my knowledge of graphic design but I am aware that I have some significant gaps in my knowledge which I am keen to fill but I don't have the luxury of being able to take a college of university course that take place in normal working hours.

Can anybody offer any advice on this?

Thanks in advance.

Im shocked that there isnt any college / Universities offering design courses in your area, as very few offer then during the night! CHeck out the Push Guide for courses in your area.
Also try Open University or Learn Direct and see what takes your fancy...

Hi Guys,

Thanks very much for all your feedback.

It's so frustrating because there are a million courses to choose from, but none which fit my brief (and my budget).
There seem to be plenty of web design courses available - like the one the Home Learning College offer that Toon suggested, but there doesn't seem to be so much for good old fashioned print work!

Can anyone recommend any good reading material in the mean time?

You can learn a lot from reading Photoshop books and doing online or book tutorials. Get some Graphic Design books from the library to see some design examples. Typography book are useful. There is a book The Savvy Designer's Guide To Success which is meant be good.
