Find out the terms of their educational license. It differs between companies.

Some would suggest a torrent download of the full version. While I don't endorse this, I will say that I happen to know people in Adobe and know that Adobe make their software easily crackable.

Why?

Because this means lots and lots of students will download it, if its easily available on torrents. If lots and lots of students download it then they'll use it and get used to it and want to use it pretty much all the time. Adobe know fully that when these students get into the big wide world of commercial business they will have to buy a copy from that point on to continue legally using photoshop and other adobe products easily. So really for adobe it is like securing a early sale. :)

;)

To this end also, adobe's licenses don't actually extend to prevention of downloading for private/education use. Of course they don't advertise this cause they prefer you buy the education one. But i used the cracked photoshop for years before i started my own company and had to buy it.

If you are doing freelance, I presume you are registered as self-employed, so you could put it down as an expense on your Self Assessment, so in a way your saving money anyways :D hehe

You have to register within 3 month else they will fine you!
When you declare your earnings for tax purposes on the Self Assessment form, you can claim 'expenses' basically things you need to do your business that you've had to pay for (and there for are not profit and cannot be taxed), so if oyu were to declare a legit purchase of Adobe then you can declare that as a neccessity and not be taxed on it ;)

So how much tax would I save on the legitcopy of Adobe CS3 Design Premium Suite and then the student version (or is it not possible to gain tax back on the student version?)
