Default Eh...

Whether the logo was designed in 1977 or 2007, a logo is a logo be it iconic / symbolic or typeface / wordmark. Does the "web 2.0" logo have a distinct look? You could say "yes" but what is it? The shinny or glossy look with a cool reflection...zzzz. If your logo looks like it was designed by Apple, then it might be classified as 2.0.

In all honesty, it all boils down to marketing and driven by the technology behind the marketing push.

they did call it web 2,0 because of improvement in web technologies actually, it wasn't intended to be a style of design but that happened too because of it.

the terms "web 2.0" and "next gen" are getting on my nerves.

what the next improvement going to be called? "next gen X"!!, "new gen"?, please. cut the crap already people.

they didn't even define what "web 2.0" was until after the trend had already taken hold and was widely utilized. they just let the fashion define itself instead of actually having a set goal for what it was going to do. they just slapped a title on whatever wide spread innovation was occurring at the moment.

On the whole I agree. Web 2.0 is the read write web, but the phrase was coined after the whole read write thingy evolved. It has since become a whore of the masses, serving anyone and everyone's blog or newly pointless app.

I understand the difference now, thanks. In my opinion Web 2.0 logos suck, and I hate creating them when people want me to..

It's easy, mate. Learn to say "No".
Just dig around the forums here, you'll find a topic just about that.
