Hidding any text on your index or splash page will get you booted out of google eventually. It may work for a little while, But eventually google will catch you, and bump you out.

I have first hand experience with this: As the company I currently work for (d.o. being my LLC on the side) builds flash based web sites, and we were using this method to optimize our sites. Then one day, BAM! google started knocking our clients out of the search because of the hidden text. Had to revamp our entire SEO strategy.

And if Google doesn't catch you, someone's bound to report you.

Yeah - I kind of figured that they would get you for that. I hadn't actually used the strategy yet. The only way that I can think of obtaining good seo while using an all flash site; is, to design a concept of the flash site and cut up what needs to be flash and what can be normal text. Kind of like what we all do now for our current websites. This just allows you to make a site that has content that Google can spider. I dunno - just a thought.

Best thing to do IMO is too add an html sitemap to the footer of your page. Have it be an expandable div.

so it will say sitemap, and on click it expands an html sitemap, at this point you could also add some description text to the site in a paragraph or too.

That is very creative digitaloctane -
I never do full flash sites - I just was curious how to get around the SEO thing.
