Yip, yell.com is free for a basic listing or you can pay if you want a link to your site. The book is or was a couple of years back free for a basic listing too. I've removed myself this year as for every job I got through the, I got about 50 irritating sales calls.

I think the Ads weigh in at a few hundred pounds (need to check the figures) but apparently you get a massive increase in custom.

No you have it wrong harden - the algorithms that se's use are complex - it makes it so you can't do what you are talking about. They want to take your text and figure out how many times you use the word Harden within your content - then they rank you and place you accordingly. So if you only have harden 5 times in an entire site you are going to have some competition:
http://www.google.com/search?q=Harda...ient=firefox-a

Besides - if you use css you can use display: none or visibility: hidden to completely hide your text- but it will still be there. But I am sure that the se probably void this stuff out because then you could use every word in existence to try to improve your rankings. I say re-think your total graphic idea.

Talk about a question that not one answer can answer - but I would have to say what this whole thread is about. True content. Have as much text as you can!!

so if a site is 100% flash based..i guess the search engines would rely on the splash page?

i found the best way was backlinks

i didnt manually submit my site to any of the search engines, but within a week i was on google and yahoo and by 3 weeks msn aswell. i just got my link on as many forums as possible (not spamming) and got my address added to as many related site's links pages.

Now ive just got to do a lot of SEO to get my site somewhere near the top of any of those SEs
