Default Photoshop Deform
I'm trying to create a effect of one image deforming another. Displacement maps would work but I'm looking for more a 3D effect of it pushing though the image as in a box or a sphere or any other shape?

No examples, just looking for a way to create a effect whereas the layer ontop is elastic and a object (layer) below it pushes threw.

Im not sure what you mean, but PSDTuts - Photoshop Tutorials and Links - Spoonfed Photoshop Tutorials has some of the best tutorials. They might have something that helps.
