Photomontage - Metaphor Advice!!

Hey.

I'm creating a photomontage trying to portray the concept of me growing up and becoming independent. To do this, I need to come up with a good metaphor around this concept! Really struggling to find or think of something though!

If anyone has any ideas for which I can build on, that would be great!!

from the acorn grows the might oak (or seeds, gardening etc)

Nature's always good for metaphors. How about a chrysalis becoming a caterpillar and then a flutterbye? It's the independant bit you really need to think about. What symbolises independance to you? Does it mean freedom to you? Or responsibility? Or is it exciting/scary? Your road to independance could be a road...... maybe you could start with a bus (being carried along and having to rely on others), working your way up to a speedy car or something.

I'm quite liking the nature idea .. i think i would be able to portray that quite well in a photomontage.

As for the independence thing .. i'm trying to portray the responsiblity, as i believe I can look after myself a lot more now and are not dependent on others.

if anyone has anymore ideas then please keep them coming!! As you can probably tell ... i'm not finding it too easy to think of a strong metaphor!!!

the stronger metaphores generally use negative connotations to speak the point... like seporation would be a kitten next to a roadkill cat.

unfortunately people get hung up on the negative aspect of these types of metaphores and miss the artistic point behind it.

studdy gothic art for good metaphore (16th centrury type stuff, not modern gothic so much.) buroque is also strong on metaphore and symbolisms.
