D&M Thanksgiving short on newgrounds.com when you choose "watch this movie" thats off the top of my head but I have seen a few photo galleries that act the same way when the picture is clicked.

That's actually done with Javascript, not Flash. Here's the place though: ThickBox 3.1

are you sure. I have seen the website you have listed in your profile and I see something similar in effect but I assumed that was css due to your "CSS Wizardry" title there. Have you seen the way that animations are displayed on newgrounds.com? I have seen it done in css for awhile now but it is only recently that I have noticed it appearing more in flash based sites. anyway the end result for me is to display some of my photography work and some of my animation and videos. If it is truly done in javascript it means I am going to need to brush up on javascript and relearn a few things then.

Yeah, that particular one runs on either the prototype.js or scriptalicious.js framework. Take a peek round the source, do a bit of looking round. And to be honest, the frameworks are foolproof, my js knowledge is minimal at best ;)
Good luck!

ok I am playing around with thickbox, sure I ca get it to work fine on my comp but when I test it on my server its not showing up right, I am assuming this is dealing with the doctype. I am not familiar with setting up the correct doctype. On the thickbox page it says "sure the page that invokes ThickBox has a valid DTD." any help on this would be greatful.
