Default Graphic Design Tablets.

What exactly do they do/help you to achieve and where can I get one at a cheap reasonable price? For me, that'd be £30-40 ~ $70-80 (I think that's about right). Hopefully that's not too cheap and stingey.

I'm new to graphic design and after seeing some of the work on display on here I'm thinking of buying one.

I feel like a fish out of water on some graphic design forums, I know I'm not very good but I do like to give it a shot and after all, I suppose that's what G.D is all about right? Enjoying yourself no matter what.

So yeah, maybe if this is a bit of a begginer question and shouldn't be asked on a forum such as this, then direct me to a begginer forum or something where I'd feel more at home.

Cheers, thanks a lot.

I have no idea, the sort of thing where you have a stylus and a mouse and you roll it/scroll it across a base that comes with it. I think it's used so you an sketch things on Photoshop and do detailed bits of work rather than using a mouse or a touchpad which would be harder to get into the small nuts and cranys.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant :P Having a cold and a stuffy head really isn't doing me any good today. Been blowing away like a back street hooker, but yeah, after Googling Wacom they definately seem to be what I mean. Any reccomendations in my price range at all?

PC World? Or is that a pretty naff place to go for this sort of thing?

There's loads of places, I just never go in them, I'll make an effort to do so from now on.

Yeah well I'm thinking about heading into town later anyway, might get myself the latest Pro Evolution Soccer game and if that's not out yet then I might have a gander at PC World and a couple of other places. If none of those then I'll probably end up eBaying.

On the other forum I was on, it was a bit dead, well I asked the same question and got replies saying how maybe I should be looking at books rather than the equipment first, but I feel as though tablets would be a big help for me as well, I have a laptop and using the touchpad rather than a mouse/stylus is very demanding. So it helps me in two ways.

my last boss used a tablet instead of a mouse, it was very annoying and frustrating when i had to do something on her mac - i always used to swap in the mouse :D
