Default Not enough RAM

I get an error message in Photoshop when I try to do anything! It says, "Cannot Complete Request, Not Enough RAM." Anyone know what I should do?

Set up Scratch Disks in PS preferences. You can set it to a few Exobytes lol.

You might also wna tto run a test on your RAM to check if it is bad or not. I saw a similar issue on another PC and that was the final .. bad RAM. I used MemTest Pro to check.

I get this quite a bit at work as they have really poop RAM, and the files are for vans lol
If you can, I'd try and get some RAM, I just recently upgraded my PC to 3GB and CS3 loads sooo quickly :D

maxmem

it's helped me through bad computers with low specs.

also make sure to close all unessential programs like your email, web browser, games, chat clients, Windows OS... these can drain memory from photoshop and we all know that photoshop is more important!!!

Thanks guys! To answer some of your questions: I'm on Windows Vista, Acer computer, 120GB HDD, 1GB DDR2, Photoshop file was quite small, running Photoshop CS2.

I've heard that 1g is not enough for Vista. (this comment from a Mac user) This may be your problem. 2g should work, more would be better. Ram is cheap now–go for it!

I'm sure our PC people will throw in their thoughts.
